The WordPress Developer will architect, build, and optimize membership websites on WordPress using MemberPress as the core membership engine.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing custom plugins, shortcodes, API integrations, and backend features to meet client business needs.
The developer will conduct full-stack performance audits and implement optimizations to improve Core Web Vitals and user experience.
Collaboration with design and marketing teams is essential to advise on technical feasibility and suggest scalable solutions.
The role involves owning deployment workflows, version control, and environment management across staging and production instances.
The developer will proactively identify technical debt, performance bottlenecks, or security risks and recommend long-term solutions.
Writing clear documentation for technical configurations, processes, and support handoffs is also a key responsibility.
Participation in code reviews, feedback cycles, and technical discussions with the broader engineering team is expected.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of proven experience developing custom WordPress solutions, including themes, plugins, and REST API integrations.
A minimum of 2+ years of direct, hands-on experience working with MemberPress at scale, including multi-tier membership models, subscription management, and Stripe integrations, is required.
Expertise in architecting backend systems, including custom post types, hooks/filters, MySQL queries, and scalable plugin development is essential.
Familiarity with modern PHP development practices, such as object-oriented programming, Composer, namespacing, and error handling, is necessary.
A deep understanding of WordPress security, performance optimization, and SEO best practices is required.
Experience with version control systems, specifically Git, and collaborative code review workflows is needed.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as the developer will work directly with US-based stakeholders.
Full availability to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, fully aligned with Eastern Time Zone (ET) is mandatory.
