Remote AI Engineer

Description:

• Rye is a seed-stage startup with a founding team that includes Justin Kan, co-founder of Twitch, and founders from Reddit and Goldman Sachs.
• The company has developed APIs that integrate with platforms like Shopify and Amazon, and is now iterating those APIs to enable AI agentic solutions to transact natively on various online stores.
• The role is for a Senior / Staff AI Engineer to join a remote-first team, with a base in NYC where part of the team works together a few days a week.
• The engineer will contribute to the development of a cutting-edge browser agent that ensures secure and reliable transaction success in a modular way.
• Responsibilities include architecting a system that uses AI to create fault-tolerant checkout workflows and coordinating features across teams for fast iterative product development.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 4+ years of experience in backend/AI engineering.
• Proven professional experience in building LLM or NLP applications is required.
• A deep understanding of techniques such as fine-tuning, multi-step reasoning agent development, text processing, semantic extraction, and machine translation is necessary.
• Experience in designing evaluations and building tight experiment loops is essential.
• A deep understanding of browser internals and automation techniques is required.
• Knowledge of fraud detection solutions in ecommerce is a bonus skill.
• High proficiency in Python is mandatory.
• Candidates should have a strong understanding of best practices in software development and engineering.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential.
• A great technical writer is preferred.
