Skeleton's Commercial department is seeking a driven and experienced Application Engineer- Data Centers (m/f/x) to support customers and partners across the United States.
The role involves being the key technical liaison between sales, product, and engineering teams and major data center customers.
Responsibilities include providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support to data center customers and partners.
The engineer will collaborate with sales teams to identify customer requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
The position requires developing and optimizing system architectures for integrating Skeleton’s ultracapacitors into data center UPS, backup power, and energy efficiency applications.
Conducting on-site visits, technical trainings, and product demonstrations is also part of the role.
The engineer will support system design, including electrical schematics, thermal considerations, and lifecycle cost analysis.
Close collaboration with R&D and Product Development is necessary to communicate field feedback and improve product-market fit.
Preparing technical documentation such as specifications, integration guides, and white papers tailored for the U.S. data center market is required.
Ensuring compliance with relevant U.S. industry standards and certifications (UL, IEEE, etc.) is essential.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical field is required.
Candidates must have 3+ years of experience as an application or field engineer in the data center or power infrastructure industry.
Strong knowledge of power backup systems, UPS, batteries, and/or ultracapacitors is necessary.
Familiarity with thermal management, grid-tied systems, and data center operational requirements is expected.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role.
The ability to travel domestically (up to 25–40%) for customer meetings and site support is required.
Candidates must have authorization to work in the U.S.
Extra cookie points for additional qualifications include experience working with Tier 1 or hyperscale data center operators, knowledge of energy storage regulations and incentive programs in the U.S., hands-on experience with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS) or electrical CAD tools, and experience with industrial or grid-connected systems, especially in backup power applications.
