Remote Application engineer - REMOTE

Description:

• The position is for an Application Engineer and is remote, available only to candidates located in the EU.
• Candidates must obtain a security clearance within 15 weeks of starting their services, and they should begin the clearance process as soon as possible.
• The deadline for applications is August 22, 2025.
• The role is open to freelancers only.
• Responsibilities include application installation, configuration, and administration in both production and non-production environments.
• The engineer will monitor applications, perform performance tuning, and continuously improve service efficiency and quality.
• They will handle applications support and maintenance activities, including incident, change, release, and problem resolution.
• The role involves writing and validating application procedure manuals, troubleshooting guides, and backup and restore plans.
• The engineer will automate administrative procedures for recurring system administration activities and provide necessary installation and technical support documentation.
• They will contribute to the structuring, maintenance, and development of the technical knowledge base supporting ICT Operations activities.
• Reporting on application availability, performance, capacity, and overall usage is also required.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 6 years of experience as an IT professional in mid/large IT infrastructure environments, including deployment, support, and maintenance of applications, is mandatory.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in application administration is required.
• Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience with micro-services, container orchestration, and container-based stacks such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience administering and supporting Elasticsearch is mandatory.
• Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience working with enterprise Microsoft server or Linux server solutions.
• Good knowledge of the deployment and administration of Elasticsearch clusters is mandatory.
• Candidates must possess good knowledge of micro-services, container orchestration, and container-based stacks using Kubernetes, Helm charts, Docker, and Rancher.
• Good knowledge of configuration management concepts and technologies, such as Puppet, Ansible, and Chocolatey, is required.
• Candidates should have good knowledge of shell and/or PowerShell scripting.
• A good understanding of ITIL, including incident, change, and release management processes, is mandatory.
