The role of Application Security Engineer focuses on integrating security into the software development lifecycle and managing application-level vulnerabilities.
The engineer will work closely with developers, DevOps, and product teams to ensure security is embedded in every stage of development.
Responsibilities include operating and maintaining application security tooling, analyzing vulnerabilities, providing guidance on secure coding practices, automating security assessments, and supporting threat modeling.
The position is fully remote, but the employee must reside in Hungary.
Requirements:
Proficiency in scripting, preferably in Python, for automation and analysis.
Ability to build pipelines and manage source code using tools like Jenkins and Git.
Understanding of cloud security concepts, ideally in AWS.
Strong grasp of application security principles, including authentication, authorization, and secure coding.
Experience with SAST/SCA tools such as Checkmarx and Snyk, and container/image scanning tools like Trivy and Inspector.
Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools like Confluence, Jira, and Bitbucket.
Experience working in agile development environments.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable guidance for developers.
