The Associate Data Center Engineer will focus on Technology Estimation and will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive cost estimates across various low-voltage and IT infrastructure scopes, including telecommunications, wireless networks, IT systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), and Electric Power Management Systems (EPMS).
Travel is required up to 40% for site surveys.
Responsibilities include developing detailed cost estimates based on RFP requirements, construction drawings, and site survey data.
The role involves interpreting and analyzing plans and specifications for telecom, wireless, IT infrastructure, BMS, and EPM systems.
The engineer will perform quantity take-offs and provide labor/material pricing for structured cabling, network systems, wireless access points, routers/switches, control systems, and related technologies.
Collaboration with sales, engineering, project management, and vendors is essential to ensure the accuracy and competitiveness of bids.
The engineer will evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals for compliance and pricing alignment.
Participation in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and post-bid clarifications is required when necessary.
The role includes maintaining and updating unit cost databases, labor productivity factors, and vendor pricing information.
The engineer will support seamless project handoff by providing accurate scope documentation to project management teams for awarded work.
Ongoing security awareness training must be completed, and compliance with company policies is required.
The engineer will identify and escalate security risks to the appropriate Executive Leadership Team member and actively contribute to remediation efforts.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in telecom, wireless, or technology infrastructure estimating roles is required.
Extensive knowledge of low-voltage systems, wireless network design, IT infrastructure, and building management systems (BMS/EPMS) is necessary.
Proficiency in interpreting architectural, MEP, and technology drawings is essential.
Familiarity with CSI divisions related to telecom, security, and control systems is required.
Experience using estimating tools such as Bluebeam, Accubid, PlanSwift, and Excel is necessary.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a high level of attention to detail are required.
Technical certifications such as RCDD, PMP, or BICSI are preferred.
Experience with cost modeling and value engineering practices is advantageous.
A background in pre-sales engineering or design/build contracting is beneficial.
