Description:

  • Seeking an experienced AWS Data Architect to lead the architecture and evolution of our Enterprise Unified Data Platform (UDP).
  • This platform is a core enabler of healthcare data modernization, focused on democratizing access to data across healthcare administration, care management, and health informatics.
  • The role ensures alignment with the foundational product-level UDP architecture.
  • The candidate will balance deep cloud architecture skills with strong platform alignment and governance discipline to build scalable, interoperable, and future-ready solutions.
  • Responsibilities include serving as the Enterprise UDP technical architect, ensuring full alignment with the Product UDP platform’s governance, security, and architectural direction.
  • The architect will design and implement federated data architecture using virtualization tools that connect to domain UDPs and external sources without duplicating datasets.
  • Leading the architecture of semantic layers to unify attributes across data sources and facilitate access control, data discovery, and request execution is essential.
  • The role involves architecting and scaling AWS-native infrastructure components including Amazon S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, DMS, EventBridge, Athena, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, and KMS.
  • The architect will leverage PostgreSQL for reference and application data use cases, and PySpark for large-scale data transformation and processing workloads.
  • Driving data lake and lakehouse architecture evolution, enabling ingestion, storage, cataloging, and virtualization of structured and unstructured datasets is a key responsibility.
  • The role enables self-service data consumption by implementing virtualized access models integrated with tools like Tableau, Power BI, and NLP-based query engines.
  • Collaboration with product managers, platform engineers, and DevOps teams is necessary to ensure reusable, governed, and secure cloud-native components.
  • Supporting metadata management, data cataloging, RBAC, and auditability using AWS IAM, Glue Catalog, and associated services is required.
  • The architect will evaluate emerging AWS and data technologies, recommending adoption where they align with Enterprise UDP’s roadmap and federated principles.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • The candidate must have 10+ years of experience in data architecture and engineering, with 5+ years building and scaling solutions on AWS.
  • Deep experience with AWS services such as Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, DMS, Athena, IAM, and CloudTrail is essential.
  • Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL, PySpark, and big data transformation tools and frameworks is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in federated data architecture, data virtualization, and semantic data modeling is necessary.
  • A solid understanding of healthcare data domains such as Medicaid eligibility, claims, provider, member, and care management is important.
  • The candidate must have a proven track record of aligning to platform-level architecture and governance standards, avoiding siloed or point-specific implementations.
  • Skills in data cataloging, lineage, access control, and data quality enforcement are required.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional, agile environments are essential.

Benefits:

  • The position offers the opportunity to lead the architecture of a critical data platform in the healthcare sector.
  • The role provides a chance to work with cutting-edge AWS technologies and data architecture practices.
  • The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, enhancing their professional network and skills.
  • The position supports the evolution of data practices that contribute to healthcare modernization and improved data access.
  • The role offers a dynamic work environment that encourages innovation and the adoption of emerging technologies.
