The Azure Presales Engineer is a customer-facing mid-level technical presales and delivery role at Eastwall, a professional services firm focused on the Azure cloud space.
This role involves working directly with Executive Leadership and Channel Sales to design, architect, sell, and implement modern Azure solutions that enhance customer business and industry outcomes.
Responsibilities include engaging with customers and Microsoft on presales scoping calls, proposal development, and written statements of work (SOWs).
The engineer will oversee the implementation of the customer’s Azure platform or on-premises systems, translating business outcomes into technical solutions.
The role requires demonstrating technical leadership through personally implemented architectures and Azure services after an engagement is sold.
Acting as a trusted advisor to customer technology and business leadership is essential for providing thought leadership and solution approaches.
The engineer will extract business requirements from customers and translate them into well-architected recommendations aligned with Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Well-Architected Framework (WAF).
Developing forward-looking guidance and future state roadmaps is part of the responsibilities.
The engineer will leverage best practices to reduce risk in customer implementations and standardize Eastwall’s presales and delivery approach.
Collaboration with Eastwall executive, sales, and delivery teams is necessary to ensure alignment with customer goals.
Requirements:
Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in Azure cloud solutions, including Infrastructure, Application Modernization, and Data services. Candidates without direct technical experience on Azure should not apply.
A minimum of 2 years of experience with presales responsibilities related to sales call support, proposal development, solutions architecture, and statement of work authoring is required.
Experience in a consultative or engineering role working with multiple clients concurrently is necessary.
Direct channel sales experience with Microsoft is preferred but not required.
Candidates should have experience supporting production applications or workloads, including performance testing and troubleshooting.
Experience with other public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Oracle is beneficial but not required.
Familiarity with cloud AI/ML services is also beneficial but not required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and PowerPoint presentations, are essential.
New hires must complete specific certifications within the first twelve weeks of hire, including Exam AZ-104, Exam DP-305, and Exam DP-900.
This role involves day-to-day client interaction in presales and delivery, with up to 50% billable utilization and travel within the continental United States up to 20%.
