The Back End Engineer I will build and maintain backend APIs using Node.js and JavaScript to support Pearpop’s creator platform.
The role involves developing full stack features with JavaScript and web components, ensuring seamless integration with frontend and backend systems.
Collaboration with product and design teams is essential to deliver user-facing features that enhance creator-brand interactions.
Participation in code reviews is required to ensure high-quality, maintainable code within a monorepo structure.
The engineer will contribute to QA processes and CI/CD pipelines to support reliable, frequent deployments on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Cloudflare.
Debugging and resolving production issues to maintain platform performance is part of the responsibilities.
The role includes developing and maintaining internal tools to streamline team workflows and operations, as well as supporting light IT tasks.
The engineer will engage in mentorship from senior engineers and the VP of Engineering to enhance technical and professional skills.
Opportunities to explore modern backend and AI-driven architectures will be available, including exposure to Pinecone, vector embeddings, or LLMs.
The position is hybrid based in Los Angeles, with a fully stocked office environment.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 1+ years of professional experience in backend or full stack development, ideally in high tech or media tech.
Hands-on experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and other web development technologies is required.
Experience in building APIs and user-facing features is necessary.
Familiarity with SQL databases, preferably Postgres, for data management and querying is expected.
A working knowledge of Git, monorepo structures, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (preferably Google Cloud Platform) is required.
Candidates should demonstrate eagerness to learn and grow through mentorship in a fast-paced startup environment.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
