Remote Back End Engineer (Node/Java)

Description:

• Oddball is seeking a Back End Engineer to work on a significant Federal program that positively impacts millions of Americans' daily lives.
• The role involves supporting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in modernizing and centralizing Medicare data into a secure, cloud-based platform.
• Responsibilities include designing and developing robust API endpoints and services, implementing end-to-end testing solutions, and supporting backend systems that drive critical health data applications.
• The engineer will collaborate with a team to improve how CMS manages and delivers Medicare services.

Requirements:

• Applicants must have 4+ years of experience developing backend services with Node.js and TypeScript.
• A solid understanding of API design and backend systems architecture is required.
• Experience with SQL/Postgres and familiarity with Java in backend development is necessary.
• Hands-on experience with modern CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions, is expected.
• Familiarity with cloud computing services, especially AWS, and building within secure, scalable environments is important.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment with sprints and daily stand-ups is required.
• Candidates must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, including data scientists, UX, product, and software engineers.
• Strong communication skills, a teamwork mindset, and a passion for learning and adapting in a fast-moving environment are essential.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and may need U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation and/or security clearance.
• A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
