Remote Backend/API Engineer

Description:

• South Geeks is seeking a Backend/API Engineer to join the Trading Platform Team.
• The role involves designing, building, and maintaining robust API endpoints for a high-performance trading platform.
• The engineer will collaborate with senior engineers to deliver scalable technical solutions and improve API infrastructure.
• Responsibilities include building performant API endpoints, maintaining backward compatibility, participating in code reviews, contributing to technical discussions, working on new features and technical improvements, collaborating through pair programming, and writing comprehensive tests to maintain code quality.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 4–5 years of experience as a professional software engineer, with at least 2 years focused on backend/API services.
• Experience in building and deploying backend applications for SPAs, mobile apps, or public API consumption using Node.js is required; experience with Ruby/Rails, Python/Django, PHP/Laravel, Go, or Elixir/Phoenix will also be considered.
• Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with knowledge of typed languages, is necessary.
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MSSQL is required.
• Candidates must demonstrate the ability to write and maintain automated test suites.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset are essential.
