Acorns is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer II for the Investment Products team.
The role involves building robust, scalable software and systems for customer-focused financial products.
The position can be remote or based in Irvine, CA, or New York, NY.
Responsibilities include contributing to production code, supporting grooming and refining efforts in the engineering roadmap, and collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Project Management, and Leadership teams.
The engineer will optimize performance of business-critical processes and align with engineering leadership to define and promote team-wide priorities.
The role requires scoping level of effort and delivering projects with internal and external teams, proposing scalable solutions to complex problems, and leading technical initiatives.
Requirements:
Candidates should have 3-4+ years of relevant experience building and supporting production software.
Expertise with SQL or NoSQL solutions is required.
Experience with API design and implementation (REST/GraphQL) is necessary.
A strong understanding of object-oriented and functional programming paradigms is essential.
Candidates must have expertise in a major, dynamically typed programming language.
A strong understanding of algorithms, time complexity, data structures, and design patterns is required.
A proven track record of good software engineering practices, including code reviews and a focus on quality and documentation, is necessary.
Experience with AWS, Ruby, Typescript, and GraphQL is a plus.
Familiarity with Databricks is a plus but not essential.
