The Home Podcasts Squad is seeking an experienced Engineer II Backend Engineer to improve podcast recommendations on various key Spotify surfaces, including the Home Page and Podcast Subfeed.

The Backend Engineer II will be responsible for developing and scaling podcast recommendations, requiring collaboration with multiple Studios and a strong understanding of Home Systems and the recommendations ecosystem at Spotify.

Responsibilities include collaborating with internal partners to design backend systems and APIs, architecting and operating Java services, leading within an agile team, and contributing to the Spotify-wide backend developer community.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 3+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer, specifically working with Java; familiarity with tools like gRPC, GCP, BigQuery, and Bigtable is a plus.
Experience in working directly with stakeholders to document and develop APIs and systems that meet their requirements is essential.
Applicants should have a background in writing distributed, high-volume services and maintaining them in production.
An interest in big data processing technologies is preferred.
