Description:

  • Confluent is seeking a Backend Software Engineer for their Cloud Traffic and Networking team, which is responsible for building and managing the networking fabric of Confluent Cloud.
  • The role focuses on the performance, security, reliability, and cost optimizations for all traffic that ingresses and egresses a customer's Kafka cluster on Confluent Cloud.
  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in building large-scale distributed systems, particularly in managing network data planes for containerized workloads in the cloud.
  • Responsibilities include building the software for the Confluent Cloud network data plane platform, driving execution of software projects, building upon open source software, and troubleshooting issues across a complex technical stack.

Requirements:

  • A BS or MS in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Candidates should have 3+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure/cloud networking experience.
  • Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development are necessary.
  • Experience in building and operating large-scale systems is essential.
  • A solid understanding at a systems level (disk, network, operating systems, etc.) is required.
  • The candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Proficiency in C++, Go, Python, or other statically typed languages is required.
  • Experience or knowledge with public clouds (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is necessary.
