Remote Business Intelligence Engineer (Power BI)

Description:

• CompassX is seeking a well-rounded Business Intelligence Engineer (Power BI) to support one of their life sciences clients.
• This role is situated at the intersection of architecture, analytics, and delivery, making it ideal for someone who can manage the full data workflow from source to visualization.
• The position is based in the US, ideally in the Eastern Standard Time zone, and involves collaboration with both US and EU-based teams.
• The role includes designing and implementing star schema models and semantic layers that enable consistent and scalable reporting.
• Responsibilities also include performing source-to-target data mapping and building data lineage documentation.
• The engineer will define and document key business KPIs and metrics, and partner with business and technical stakeholders to align on data definitions and reporting needs.
• The position requires developing Power BI dashboards and outputs based on the underlying data models, combining aspects of being an Analyst, Engineer, and Architect to build an end-to-end business intelligence solution.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have experience across the full data workflow, from source analysis and modeling to dashboard development in Power BI.
• Expertise in data architecture concepts, including dimensional modeling, data lineage, and semantic models is required.
• Strong experience with Power BI, including DAX and the ability to build user-friendly dashboards, is essential.
• Applicants should possess excellent fundamentals, capable of writing complex SQL queries while also maintaining big picture thinking.
• The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-moving, collaborative environment with cross-functional global teams.
