  • Instructure is seeking an experienced, articulate, and passionate education technologist for the position of Senior Solutions Engineer (SE) in Japan.
  • The primary objective of the SE is to guide prospective customers through the evaluation process of the Instructure Learning Platform, including Canvas LMS, Canvas Studio, Canvas Catalog, Canvas Credentials, and Impact by Instructure.
  • SEs serve as the main knowledge resource for the sales team, identifying deployment and technical issues for assigned accounts during the pre-sales process.
  • They are responsible for considering creative solutions and maintaining strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.
  • The role involves collaboration with Channel Account Managers (CAMs) and Channel Partners to manage complex, multi-stakeholder opportunities.
  • SEs will develop and deliver tailored product demonstrations for various sectors, including Higher Education, K12, and Registered Training Organisations.
  • They will analyze customer goals and pain points, mapping them to appropriate platform solutions.
  • The position requires responding to technical requirements in RFIs/RFPs and determining necessary Instructure solutions and services.
  • SEs must document customer requirements to support successful evaluations, proof of concept, and implementation.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and skill development is essential.
  • The role includes partnering with customer experience teams to ensure an exceptional customer experience.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of sales engineering or solution consulting experience in a SaaS organization is recommended.
  • Fluency in both Japanese and English is required.
  • Candidates should have an understanding of channel sales programs.
  • A technical understanding of education technology, web technology, systems integration, SaaS, student information systems, and APIs is necessary.
  • The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, self-reliant, collaborative, and communicative.
  • Strong presentation skills are essential, with the ability to present to a wide range of stakeholders in both virtual and face-to-face settings.
  • Candidates must be organized and analytical, capable of overcoming sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, is required, with travel up to 50%.
