The Cloud Database Support Engineer position involves providing technical support to enterprise customers using SingleStore, a cloud-native database.
This role requires a deep understanding of database internals, memory allocators, and SQL query behavior to resolve complex database issues.
Support Engineers will learn about customer systems and improve their knowledge of SingleStore and database operations.
The position requires collaboration with various departments, including development teams and product management, to address customer issues effectively.
Required working hours are from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST, with participation in an on-call rotation that may include weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities include providing email and live technical support, identifying and reproducing product issues, collaborating with other teams, improving support processes, and ensuring a positive customer support experience.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of advanced customer-facing technical support experience.
Experience with MySQL or MySQL-like databases and SQL query optimization is required.
A solid skill set in sysadmin, QA, and testing is necessary, including hands-on experience with Linux and system I/O.
Familiarity with scripting or coding languages such as Python, Bash, or Go is essential for problem-solving.
Candidates should have knowledge of distributed systems and cloud platforms like AWS or GCP, with an understanding of performance bottlenecks.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required to explain technical concepts to diverse end-users.

The base salary range for this role, if based in California, Colorado, Washington, or New York City, is $118,000 - $138,000 USD per year.
