Remote Cloud Operations Engineer

Description:

• The role is for a Cloud Operations Engineer, which is a contract position that can be performed remotely.
• Working hours are flexible, with shifts available from 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM EST, 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM EST, or 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST.
• The ideal candidate should be passionate about troubleshooting complex problems related to systems, networking, and storage at scale.
• The Cloud Operations Engineer will report to the manager of Cloud Operations and will be responsible for monitoring and providing first-response to all cloud health issues that may impact customer experience, both internal and external.
• The role involves interfacing with various teams across the organization to research and troubleshoot issues ranging from single droplets to cloud-wide disturbances.
• The workweek spans five days, which may include working on weekends.
• Responsibilities include ensuring maximum uptime for global infrastructure, automating processes, building tools to improve operational efficiency, and coordinating operational work across teams.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have solid experience with Linux operating systems or Networking and day-to-day upkeep.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies and troubleshooting virtual machine instances is required.
• Candidates should have familiarity with containerization technologies and troubleshooting containers.
• A good understanding of IPv4 Networking and troubleshooting is necessary, with a CCNA equivalent being preferred.
• Basic knowledge of storage concepts and technologies is required.
• Experience with monitoring systems and incident management is essential.
• Candidates should have experience scripting in one or more of the following languages: Bash, Python, or Ruby.
• Familiarity with configuration management systems is required.
• A passion for good documentation and open communication is essential.
• Candidates must demonstrate a proven ability to learn.
