SearchStax is seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer to join its Cloud team, providing technical support to customers and ensuring the availability and reliability of the search service.
The role involves managing and supporting the search-as-a-service platform, which includes installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing open source and custom-built software.
Responsibilities include collaborating with engineers to ensure high availability, resolving customer support tickets, and managing cloud operations in a global support team covering 24x7x365.
The engineer will set up backups, deploy software, upgrade systems, and perform routine maintenance tasks, either manually or using automation tools like Ansible.
The position requires performing periodic security audits, generating reports and alerts on core infrastructure, and adhering to Standard Operating Procedures for service requests.
This is a contract opportunity, and the successful candidate will participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
Requirements:
Candidates must have strong communication skills and a strong command of English.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in Linux system administration (Ubuntu/CentOS) is required.
At least 1 year of experience with a cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is necessary.
Knowledge of network issues, including firewall, routing, and load balancing, is essential.
Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash or Python is required.
Practical knowledge of MySQL and NoSQL (MongoDB) database systems as an administrator is necessary, including backing up, replication, and optimization.
Experience in web server administration (e.g., Apache, Nginx) is required.
Exposure to ITIL processes is preferred.
Candidates should have a willingness to learn new technologies and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Knowledge of DevOps tools, such as Ansible, Terraform, and Python, would be a plus.
