The Cloud Security Engineer is responsible for assessing, identifying, and implementing security requirements for various customer cloud tenants across major cloud service providers.
This role includes developing cloud security strategies that integrate with third-party technologies and business requirements.
The engineer will evaluate existing cloud security configurations and integrations and recommend improvements.
Support will span both CSP-specific security configurations and cloud security tooling setup and configuration.
The candidate will work with cloud team members to provide secure configurations within the cloud service provider.
Responsibilities include engineering or administration of cloud environments with a security-first perspective.
The engineer will collaborate with IT and cloud security teams to implement and secure cloud tenants, resources, and configure security policies, standards, and best practices.
They will implement scalable and resilient cloud solutions within cloud platforms and introduce cloud security tooling as part of an overall Cloud Security Program using tools such as CNAPP platforms.
The role involves assessing, implementing, or recommending secure usage of cloud APIs and integrations.
The engineer will ensure cloud tenants, applications, and data meet high availability design principles for disaster and business recovery.
They will analyze and ensure proper monitoring and alerting systems are in place for tenants, services, and integrations.
The engineer will evaluate and recommend cloud platforms and cloud security tooling based on business requirements and industry best practices.
Collaboration with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders is essential to integrate cloud security tooling solutions into new or existing systems and tenants.
The engineer will stay current with emerging cloud security platforms and trends to advise on the adoption of new cloud security tooling features and services.
They will work closely with development teams to support DevOps practices and implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
The engineer will lead technical discussions and presentations for internal teams and customers.
Consistently producing work products in conformance with GuidePoint Security standards is expected.
The engineer will approach problem-solving collectively with senior staff and internal and external clients to achieve mutually beneficial results.
Other duties and responsibilities may be required as needed.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud administration or cloud security in medium to large companies is required.
A strong understanding of cloud technologies, business drivers, and emerging cloud computing trends is necessary.
Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail are essential for this role.
The candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to solve technical, managerial, or operational problems and evaluate options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge is required.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and lead presentations, training courses, and effective working sessions is essential.
