Remote Contract Senior Full Stack WordPress Engineer

• Kanopi Studios is a Design, Development & Support Agency with a fully distributed team specializing in Drupal and WordPress.

• The role is for a Contract Senior Full Stack WordPress Engineer, responsible for hands-on development and collaboration on WordPress sites.
• Daily tasks include building and configuring WordPress sites, developing native Gutenberg blocks using React, creating templates for full-site editing, developing custom plugins and themes, writing code and process documentation, participating in code peer reviews, and enjoying teamwork.
• This is a contract position with an hourly rate based on experience, and it is a 100% remote role for applicants residing in the US or Canada.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 4+ years of professional WordPress experience.
• Proficiency with Advanced Custom Fields, including fields, taxonomies, CPT, and REST API is required.
• Experience in building custom Gutenberg blocks using React and ACF is necessary.
• A strong understanding of templates and patterns for full-site editing is essential.
• Candidates should be skilled in JavaScript, including React, with Next.js experience being a plus.
• Familiarity with modern development workflows such as Composer, CLI, GitHub, Docker, and multi-environment setup and deployment is required.
• A deep understanding of modern web standards and technologies is expected.
• A BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience is required.
• Candidates should be comfortable working in support roles and have proven experience in an agency environment, preferably remote, with the ability to manage multiple time zones.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, intelligence, and initiative are essential.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for regular team interactions regarding questions, task estimates, progress, and potential issues.
