Vultr is seeking a highly experienced Data Center Infrastructure Architect to design and implement enterprise-grade server and network infrastructure across their data center facilities.
This role focuses on the physical layer of networks, servers, and data center infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability while aligning with business and operational requirements.
The architect will bridge strategic planning and hands-on engineering to ensure scalability, resiliency, and operational efficiency of the IT and data center infrastructure.
Responsibilities include architecting and designing the physical infrastructure for data center scale deployments, including rack layouts, components, cable management, power, and cooling requirements.
The role involves working with internal teams and vendors to define hardware deployment strategies and designs, creating and evaluating hardware BOMs, and producing necessary documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
The architect will oversee installation and implementation, partnering with facilities, vendors, and onsite contractors to build and turn up new facilities and hardware deployments, validating installations against design specifications, and troubleshooting any issues.
Communication and project management are key aspects, requiring collaboration with project management teams and stakeholders to manage physical infrastructure aspects of projects and maintain documentation.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
Candidates must have 7+ years of experience in server infrastructure, with at least 3 years in an architecture or design role.
Experience with colocation, hyperscale, or enterprise-class data center providers is essential.
A deep understanding of network hardware, designs, and cabling is necessary.
Expertise in server hardware components, server configurations, and storage systems is required.
In-depth knowledge of data center facility equipment, operations, and design standards, including power, cooling, cabling, monitoring, and operations, is needed.
A working knowledge of Linux and common Network OS platforms is important.
A proven track record of successfully leading large-scale data center projects from conception to completion is required.
Candidates should have the ability to lead cross-functional projects and mentor junior engineers.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, excellent communication and documentation skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.
