  • Responsibilities include joining a data team as an individual contributor, building scalable pipelines for large genealogy datasets, analyzing source data, and collaborating with stakeholders to clarify requirements and propose improvements.
  • The Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs, write production-ready code, troubleshoot issues, and support internal teams relying on data services.
  • The position requires contributing to the design and continuous improvement of tools, workflows, and infrastructure while working with various technologies and cloud services.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have prior experience in the genealogy industry, such as ancestry research or family history services.
  • A minimum of 4-5 years of experience using Python in a production environment is required.
  • Hands-on experience or familiarity with Airflow, including DAGs, operators, and scheduling, is necessary.
  • Experience with Docker or other OCI-compatible container frameworks is essential.
  • Proficiency in Git and standard version control workflows, including branches and pull requests, is required.
  • Candidates should have experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and be comfortable working with data formats like CSV and JSON.
  • Strong communication skills and an analytical mindset are essential for this role.
