Remote Data Engineer, Research Operations (Fixed Term)

Description:

• Oura is seeking a Data Engineer for a 6-month fixed-term role within the Research Operations team.
• The mission of Oura is to empower individuals to realize their inner potential through insights about sleep, activity, and readiness.
• The Data Engineer will work closely with research project managers and scientists to solve complex, real-world problems.
• Responsibilities include building dashboards and visualization tools, improving data quality, designing and maintaining data pipelines, and supporting data migration to a new platform.
• This position is remote within the US, with a preference for candidates on the East Coast, and offers hybrid options in San Francisco and San Diego.
• The role is ideal for someone who enjoys tackling complex problems and making a significant impact in a short time frame.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 5+ years of industry experience with data engineering tools such as Github, Python, SQL, dbt, and cloud platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, or AWS.
• A proven track record of successful data migrations or platform transitions is required.
• Comfort with building dashboards using tools like Tableau, Quicksight, or Hex is necessary.
• Fluency in the storage and visualization of multi-modal time series data is essential.
• Candidates should possess a deep curiosity about human research studies and be flexible with scheduling for occasional global team calls outside normal business hours.
