Description:
The Threat Intelligence team at NordVPN is focused on providing accurate and timely information on potential threats to their products.
The team consists of skilled professionals from various fields, including Data Science, Malware Research, Development, and Privacy.
The main responsibilities of the Data Engineer include designing, building, and managing scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, and PySpark.
The role involves developing and maintaining lakehouse architectures, utilizing Apache Hudi for data versioning, upserts, and compaction.
The Data Engineer will implement efficient ETL/ELT processes for both batch and real-time data ingestion.
Responsibilities also include optimizing data storage and query performance across large datasets through partitioning, indexing, and compaction.
Ensuring data quality, governance, and lineage by integrating validation and monitoring into pipelines is essential.
The position requires working with cloud-native services, preferably AWS (S3, Athena, EMR), to support modern data workflows.
Collaboration with data scientists, analysts, and platform engineers is necessary to deliver reliable data infrastructure.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
Candidates must have 2+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, specifically with large-scale distributed systems.
Proven expertise in Lakehouse architecture and Apache Hudi in production environments is essential.
Experience with Airflow, Kafka, or streaming data pipelines is required.
Strong programming skills in Python and PySpark are necessary for this role.
Candidates should be comfortable working in a cloud-based environment, preferably AWS.
Strong communication and collaboration skills are a must.
Nice to have: Knowledge of CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
Exposure to data cataloging tools such as Glue Data Catalog or Amundsen is beneficial.
An interest or experience in cybersecurity or secure data design is a plus.
