Remote Data Engineer

Description:

• Join the VRChat Team, a platform that provides an endless collection of social VR experiences and empowers its community to create.
• The Data Engineer will report to the Head of Data and work closely with Data Science, Product, and Engineering teams.
• Responsibilities include designing and implementing data solutions that align with VRChat's objectives.
• The role involves building and maintaining batch and real-time data warehousing solutions using Snowflake on AWS.
• Develop complex data pipelines using SQL queries and Python scripts for ETL processes.
• Implement and manage data orchestration tools like Dagster or Apache Airflow for seamless data workflow automation.
• Integrate diverse data sources, including MongoDB and SQL databases, to facilitate comprehensive data analysis.
• Ensure the scalability and performance of data infrastructure to accommodate growing data needs.
• Participate in system rollouts, upgrades, and implementation of data system changes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and maintain data products that drive innovation.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and prioritize user privacy and data security.
• Monitor data system performance and resolve issues for optimal functionality.
• Stay updated on the latest technologies and practices in data engineering.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering is required.
• Expertise in SQL and Python for data pipeline development is essential.
• Experience with data warehousing concepts and Snowflake is necessary.
• Familiarity with MongoDB and SQL databases such as Postgres and MySQL is required.
• Extensive experience with AWS or other cloud services is needed.
• Experience with data orchestration tools like Dagster or Apache Airflow is important.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are necessary.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams is essential.
