Remote Data Platform Engineer

Description:

• We are seeking a Data Platform Engineer to enhance our data platform.
• The ideal candidate should have experience as a data platform engineer on a large system and be motivated by understanding customer pain points and opportunities.
• This role is essential as we have grown to over 1 billion API calls per day, necessitating a dedicated engineer to modernize our data stack.
• The position can be based in our NYC headquarters or be remote within the US.
• Our engineering team consists of former technical co-founders and interns from prestigious schools, and we value a desire to learn and adapt across different technology stacks.
• We prioritize fast shipping and customer interaction, with a commitment to our product vision of full-stack location infrastructure.
• The data stack includes Kinesis, S3, Athena, Terraform, Airflow, Parquet, Metabase, Python, Redis, MongoDB, and Kubernetes, with primary languages being TypeScript, Rust, and Python.
• Engineers participate in an on-call rotation and contribute to open-source projects like OpenStreetMaps and MapLibre.
• The hiring process includes a call with the CTO, followed by technical interviews and a final round at our NYC HQ.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have experience building data infrastructure.
• Familiarity with our current data stack and experience with tools such as Snowflake, Clickhouse, Databricks, Dynamo, and dbt is required.
• A willingness to engage with customers and help them succeed is essential.
• Candidates should possess a deep curiosity about how systems work and the determination to solve complex problems.
• Bonus points for former technical co-founders or experience in building end-to-end customer-facing analytics and real-time streaming solutions.
