The Data Scientist will report to the Lead Energy Modeling and Simulation Engineer and receive technical mentorship from the Lead Data Scientist.
The primary responsibility of the Data Scientist is to own and contribute to modeling efforts that expand data models of the costs and benefits of electrification.
The role supports policy advocacy and community implementation work, creating data tools to share models with the electrification advocacy ecosystem.
The Data Science Team estimates the costs and benefits of electrifying households and communities, working on projects like machine learning models and solar/storage modeling.
The Data Scientist will develop and maintain data-driven models, write efficient code, communicate model capabilities, collaborate with partner teams, and synthesize data for various audiences.
Requirements:
A strong commitment to the mission, policies, and goals of Rewiring America is essential.
A Bachelor’s or advanced degree in science, technology, engineering, or math, or equivalent work experience is required.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience working with data and solving progressively challenging problems.
Effective collaboration and communication skills in a remote-only environment are necessary.
Advanced Python skills for data retrieval, cleaning, modeling, and analysis/visualization are required.
Experience with collaborative code (git) and the ability to provide constructive feedback to peers is essential.
Content knowledge in climate, building electrification, utilities, and/or renewable energy resources is required.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to communicate analytical results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
The ability to scope work to meet near-term objectives and independently communicate status updates is necessary.
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of the utility sector, experience with distributed computing frameworks, and excellent references demonstrating a strong track record in data science.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000 USD, based on qualifications and experience.
