Data Scientists at Sensor Tower are hybrid Data Scientists and Software Engineers.
The role involves taking data from initial analysis to building data pipelines to final model implementation and monitoring.
Data Scientists take full ownership of the back-end of the products they are working on.
The position requires a hands-on thinker to help harvest new insights from a growing foundation of quantitative information collected from the mobile app ecosystem.
Responsibilities include prototyping machine learning models in Python or Ruby, analyzing query performance for calculation efficiency, and writing tests for machine learning model implementations.
Collaboration with back-end engineers is necessary to understand the raw data being collected.
Data Scientists will also work with front-end engineers to create data visualizations for both external and internal customers.
Conducting ad-hoc data analysis based on requests from the Sales, CSM, or Contents team is part of the job.
Presenting results of various data analyses is also required.
Requirements:
A Master’s degree or above in mathematics, statistics, or computer science is required.
Candidates should have 3+ years of applied experience in business intelligence, data mining, analytics, or statistical modeling in technology or mobile industries, or 2+ years of applied experience in data science in mobile market intelligence.
The ability to write production-ready code in Python and Ruby is essential.
Experience with adjusting data for bias is necessary.
Substantial experience with databases, querying data, and data structure manipulation is required.
Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with both technical developers and non-technical marketing business partners.
The ability to produce rough timelines for deliveries and a solid understanding of the steps necessary to complete a project is important.
Candidates should be able to come up with a rough project structure from scratch.
The ability to critically analyze given data, ask probing questions, and perform independent research is required.
Substantial knowledge of statistical modeling techniques is necessary.
Mastery of one or more statistical visualization or graphing toolkits such as Excel, Jupyter Notebooks, or Google Spreadsheets is required.
