Spalding, a Saalex Company, is seeking a Data Scientist in Lexington Park, MD.
This position is full-time and offers a salary range of $115K-$140K, depending on experience.
The work location is primarily remote, with on-site requirements for onboarding.
Onboarding will require 1-2 visits to Patuxent River, MD for local candidates, while out-of-state candidates will be onboarded virtually.
Training will be virtual, with telework maximized, but local candidates may need to work on-site a few hours per week.
Responsibilities include managing new package requests and administering the data science package repository.
The role involves gathering data from various sources, cleaning and transforming it for analysis, and applying statistical and machine learning techniques to uncover insights.
The Data Scientist will analyze complex datasets, visualize and interpret data findings, and create dynamic data reports.
Additional duties include requirements management, schedule estimation and planning, and collaboration with a cross-functional team.
Requirements:
Candidates must have at least five (5) years of experience performing duties similar to at least two (2) duties found in the Data Scientist description.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
Desired qualifications include experience with 3rd generation programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or C++.
Familiarity with data science packages and knowledge of various machine learning techniques, model evaluation, and deployment is preferred.
Candidates should have familiarity with big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud services (e.g., AWS).
Experience with Application Lifecycle and Configuration and Knowledge Management software is highly desired.
Experience with GitLab and UNIX Shell Scripting is also desired.
Familiarity with Agile Methodology is preferred.
Candidates must have an active secret clearance and be eligible for Top Secret Clearance (SSBI), which requires US Citizenship and a security investigation.
