Remote Database Administrator (AWS RDS)

Description:

• We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Database Administrator.
• The role involves responsibility for the health, performance, and scalability of our client's diverse database landscape.
• The position operates primarily within Linux-based systems and is crucial for maintaining production-grade environments optimized for high-performance workloads.
• Collaboration with infrastructure, applications, and engineering teams is essential to ensure robust, secure, and highly scalable data platforms.

• Responsibilities include deploying, monitoring, and managing databases across both production and pre-production environments.
• The role requires automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration utilizing Terraform and Ansible.
• Management of infrastructure on Linux-based systems such as RHEL 9.x is expected.
• Monitoring system health, establishing comprehensive alerting, and responding to incidents proactively to minimize downtime is part of the job.
• Collaboration with DevOps and Data Engineering teams to align infrastructure with MLOps workflows is necessary.
• Implementation of robust security controls, including data encryption, access management, and comprehensive auditing to protect sensitive information is required.
• Troubleshooting and resolving performance issues within database systems to ensure optimal operation is a key responsibility.
• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, replication, backup, and recovery is required.
• Proficiency in managing MariaDB/MySQL, including high availability solutions, schema design, query optimization, and user management is necessary.
• Experience with MongoDB administration, including sharding, replica sets, indexing, and performance monitoring is expected.
• Familiarity with managing MS SQL Server environments, including maintenance plans, security, and troubleshooting is required.
• Strong practical experience with AWS RDS/Aurora, encompassing instance provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and backup strategies is essential.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator or DevOps Engineer with a focus on Linux OS is required.
• Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, specifically Terraform and Ansible is necessary.
• Comprehensive knowledge of networking, security, and performance tuning within distributed environments is expected.
• Proven experience with monitoring tools like DataDog, Splunk, SignalFx, and PagerDuty is required.
• Deep knowledge and practical experience with the AWS cloud platform is essential.
• Familiarity with other cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure, or IBM Cloud) is a plus.
• A good understanding of Docker and container technologies is necessary.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 4+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or DevOps Engineer with a focus on Linux OS.
• Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, specifically Terraform and Ansible, is required.
