Remote Database Architect

Description:

• We are seeking a seasoned Database Architect to lead the design, optimization, and governance of our data systems.
• This role is pivotal in ensuring our real-time, high-scale systems are robust, efficient, and aligned with best practices for security and compliance.
• As a key technical leader, you will partner across engineering teams to drive a data-first culture and scalable architecture strategies.
• The position is remote and reports to the Director of Engineering.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in database architecture, design, and administration.
• Proven expertise in relational database design with deep knowledge of Aurora or equivalent AWS RDS platforms is required.
• Hands-on experience optimizing performance for large-scale, real-time applications is essential.
• A strong background in disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and multi-region replication on AWS is necessary.
• Familiarity with data compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR) and security frameworks is required.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence engineering teams and stakeholders are essential.
• Nice to have: Experience with hybrid database models (e.g., SQL + NoSQL architectures), exposure to analytics platforms and BI tooling integrations, leadership in cross-functional data architecture initiatives, and production experience with PostgreSQL.
