The Database Engineer will join the Cloud Operations team and will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing the database infrastructure that supports mission-critical applications.
The role involves collaborating closely with senior engineers, DevOps, and application developers to ensure the performance, availability, and scalability of database systems across the organization.
Key responsibilities include maintaining, monitoring, and optimizing Azure SQL Databases, designing indexing strategies, supporting high availability configurations, creating PowerShell scripts, analyzing execution plans, managing access control, and participating in incident response processes.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.
Candidates should have 3–5 years of experience with SQL Server, including strong T-SQL, performance tuning, and index optimization skills.
Hands-on experience managing Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instances, and SQL Server on Azure VMs is necessary.
A solid understanding of Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Azure CLI, and Terraform for managing database resources is required.
Experience with Dynamic Management Views (DMVs), Query Store, and Execution Plans is essential.
Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and third-party database monitoring tools like SolarWinds DPA or Redgate is preferred.
Candidates should have experience implementing and maintaining automated backup, maintenance, and monitoring processes in Azure.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail are necessary.
Strong communication and collaboration skills are required, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
