The Senior Database Engineer will be responsible for optimizing data storage, accessibility, and performance across applications.
Responsibilities include partnering with cross-functional teams to define database requirements, designing and maintaining scalable database systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and developing automation solutions using Terraform, Ansible, and Python.
The role involves monitoring and optimizing database performance, establishing backup and recovery protocols, collaborating with security teams, leading incident resolution, and staying updated on industry trends.
Participation in on-call rotations for 24x7 support of mission-critical systems is required.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of experience managing large-scale production database systems handling terabytes of data.
Expertise in MySQL administration and replication is required.
Experience with technologies such as Elasticsearch, Kafka, Hadoop, or Vertica is a plus.
A strong background in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or AWS database deployments is necessary.
Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible is required.
Candidates should be skilled in Python and Bash scripting for automation.
Hands-on experience with Liquibase or Flyway for database automation is necessary.
Knowledge of monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, PMM, and the ELK stack is required.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting complex issues are essential.
A solid foundation in database architecture, optimization, and CI/CD concepts is required.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a dynamic team environment are necessary.
Candidates must be highly accountable with a results-driven mindset and able to create documentation and work on changes, incidents, and Jira tickets.
Relevant certifications (AWS, GCP) are a plus.
