The role of Database Reliability Engineer involves scaling, optimizing, and ensuring the performance of high-volume SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments.
Responsibilities include performance tuning of databases, scaling and monitoring, assisting in database design, developing monitoring tools, providing documentation, triaging production issues, mentoring junior engineers, participating in on-call rotations, and communicating effectively with technical and management audiences.
The engineer will analyze and improve the scalability and performance of web applications and engage in engineering discussions.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 8+ years of experience maintaining and optimizing large production databases.
Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL troubleshooting is required.
Proficiency in tuning queries generated from ORM’s and expert T-SQL skills are necessary.
Experience with Powershell or Python is required, along with familiarity with object-oriented programming languages, ideally C#.
Familiarity with Amazon Web Services, AWS RDS, and DMS is essential.
Candidates should demonstrate mastery in working independently and mentoring others.
Experience with Redis, ElasticSearch, DynamoDB, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Docker, AWS, Git, GitLab, Octopus, Terraform, and CI/CD tools is required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
A Microsoft MVP or other relevant certification is preferred.
A B.S. or M.S. in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
