  • The role of Database Reliability Engineer involves scaling, optimizing, and ensuring the performance of high-volume SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments.
  • Responsibilities include performance tuning of databases, scaling and monitoring, assisting in database design, developing monitoring tools, providing documentation, triaging production issues, mentoring junior engineers, participating in on-call rotations, and communicating effectively with technical and management audiences.
  • The engineer will analyze and improve the scalability and performance of web applications and engage in engineering discussions.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 8+ years of experience maintaining and optimizing large production databases.
  • Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL troubleshooting is required.
  • Proficiency in tuning queries generated from ORM’s and expert T-SQL skills are necessary.
  • Experience with Powershell or Python is required, along with familiarity with object-oriented programming languages, ideally C#.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services, AWS RDS, and DMS is essential.
  • Candidates should demonstrate mastery in working independently and mentoring others.
  • Experience with Redis, ElasticSearch, DynamoDB, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Docker, AWS, Git, GitLab, Octopus, Terraform, and CI/CD tools is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • A Microsoft MVP or other relevant certification is preferred.
  • A B.S. or M.S. in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
