The Database Administrator will provide technical support for the development, implementation, and maintenance of an internal database.
Responsibilities include installing, updating, and maintaining SQL Server database software across multiple versions (2012–2022).
The role involves managing database performance, implementing security policies, and supporting database migrations to cloud environments, particularly Azure.
The Database Administrator will design, implement, and maintain SQL Server and MySQL database systems, monitor database health, and automate routine operations.
The position requires creating and optimizing queries, maintaining SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS solutions, and providing guidance to developers.
Collaboration with DevOps is essential for managing SQL Server instances in hybrid environments and maintaining availability groups across data centers.
The role includes developing database standards, documentation, and being available for on-call support for urgent issues.
Requirements:
Proven experience with SQL Server (2012–2022), Azure databases, and SQL on VMs is required.
A minimum of 3 years of experience with Terraform, Ansible, or PowerShell is necessary.
Experience with Azure SQL, Azure Managed Instances, and on-prem SQL Server is essential.
Hands-on experience with disaster recovery solutions for SQL Server is required.
Expertise in SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS is needed, with exposure to Power BI preferred.
Demonstrated ability to migrate on-premises databases to cloud environments, including Azure, is necessary.
Strong skills in updating SQL Server versions and implementing new database systems are required.
Proficiency in SQL query language, query optimization, and troubleshooting is essential.
Strong experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and configuration management is required.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, or ARM templates, is necessary.
Advanced knowledge of database security, performance tuning, and backup/recovery standards is required.
Familiarity with dimensional and relational data modeling concepts is essential.
Strong programming skills, including experience with PL/SQL coding, are required.
Experience with Unix and PowerShell scripting for database management tasks is necessary.
Knowledge of emerging database technologies and the ability to recommend and implement solutions is required.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams are necessary.
