The Design Engineer will work at the intersection of code craft and aesthetic judgment.
This role involves partnering directly with the CEO and the design team to invent, prototype, and ship novel creative tooling on the web.
Responsibilities include prototyping ideas quickly, building and shipping user-facing features, evolving the design system, and engaging in design partnerships.
40% of the role focuses on prototyping unheard-of concepts by turning Figma frames and motion studies into live demos.
Another 40% is dedicated to crafting high-performance TypeScript/React views and canvases, ensuring polished micro-interactions and accessibility.
15% of the time will be spent evolving the design system by extending the component library and animation primitives.
The remaining 5% involves participating in design critiques and play-tests to provide insights that shape the roadmap.
Requirements:
Candidates must have experience in coding and design, particularly with TypeScript and React.
A strong understanding of user experience and interaction design is essential.
The ability to prototype quickly and iterate based on feedback is required.
Candidates should be comfortable working in a remote-first environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
A background in industrial design or a related field is preferred.
