The position is for a DevOps Engineer II on a long-term contract of 2+ years.
The role is 100% remote within the continental United States.
The client is dedicated to serving the military and Veterans, supporting federal agencies to improve the U.S. health care system.
The DevOps Engineer will design, develop, and maintain Optum Serve's automated build and release structure and deployment pipeline.
Responsibilities include setting up, installing, configuring, and maintaining build infrastructure.
The engineer will create and maintain build and deployment scripts and manage source control branches.
They will perform periodic builds and deployments to the production environment and handle manual code merges and partial releases.
The role involves coordinating with IT teams for pre-release checklists and troubleshooting build and deployment issues.
The engineer will also configure and maintain application settings and credentials, administer Azure DevOps Servers, and design policies for managing source code.
Documentation of build and release processes, developing metrics and reporting, and investigating new tools or processes for improvement are also key responsibilities.
Participation in a weekly on-call rotation for triaging production critical issues is required.
Requirements:
A BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience, or 5+ years of relevant experience is required.
At least 3 years of experience with monitoring tools, preferably Dynatrace and/or ELK.
Hands-on experience designing data pipelines using filebeat, Logstash, and/or fluentbit/fluentd is necessary.
Expert-level knowledge of either Dynatrace or Elastic, including best practices for both platforms.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and either Bash or PowerShell for task automation is required.
Experience with Terraform and Ansible, including managing complex configurations in multi-cloud environments, is essential.
A good working knowledge of Linux OS is required.
Candidates must be highly self-motivated and directed with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a DevOps Engineering role is mandatory.
Experience with at least one high-level programming language, such as VB.NET, is required.
Candidates should have 2+ years of experience with CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps and Octopus Deploy.
Experience supporting 24x7 high availability application environments is necessary.
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and experience with Windows hosted applications and IIS configuration is required.
Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and relational databases is necessary.
Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced Agile/Scrum development environment is required.
Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and/or applicable military experience will be considered.
