The Engineering Team Lead – PHP & React will report directly to the CTO and help shape the product and engineering culture while delivering technical excellence.
The role involves guiding a small team of developers, setting the technical direction, and remaining hands-on in delivering high-quality software.
The ideal candidate is a confident leader and mentor with a passion for team growth and technical excellence, a full-stack engineer with a strong backend foundation in PHP and solid React experience, and an effective communicator and collaborator across disciplines.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Team Lead or Senior Developer with leadership responsibilities is essential.
A minimum of 5 years of hands-on PHP development experience, including frameworks like Laravel, Symfony, or custom middleware.
At least 5 years of experience with React.js, including Hooks, Context API, Redux, or similar state libraries.
Strong skills in JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and frontend tooling such as Webpack or Vite are required.
A solid understanding of relational database design, particularly with MySQL, is necessary.
Familiarity with RESTful APIs, OAuth, and JWT-based authentication is expected.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential.
Desirable skills include experience with AWS services (ECS, RDS, S3, CloudFormation), knowledge of Docker and CI/CD pipelines, and experience with automated testing frameworks (PHPUnit, Jest, Cypress).
Comfort in Agile/Scrum environments and experience managing technical debt and modernizing legacy systems are also beneficial.
Soft skills required include being a strategic thinker with a proactive leadership style, a passion for team growth and quality engineering, and the ability to balance hands-on coding with team management.
