  • Twist is seeking a Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) Field Application Scientist (FAS) to join their Sales team as the primary technical field contact for both Twist and its customers.
  • The NGS FAS will act as a liaison between customers and Twist, responsible for pre- and post-sales technical support and market development activities for Twist’s NGS targeted enrichment product line.
  • This position is remote, with travel requirements of up to 60%.
  • Responsibilities include providing expert understanding and technical competency in discussing Twist’s NGS capabilities and product offerings with customers.
  • The FAS will support the sales team in achieving quotas by providing NGS targeted enrichment application support for pre- and post-sales activities.
  • The role involves local and regional travel to work in the field with Sales staff, attend meetings with key customers, provide training, and participate in trade shows.
  • The FAS will identify, nurture, and manage collaborations to network and provide leads for the sales team.
  • The position requires supporting the sales team in technical discussions, presentations, and meetings with customers.
  • High-level technical support to customers will include probe design discussions, pre- and post-capture library generation/troubleshooting, post-sequencing data analysis/interpretation, and general experimental design and project management assistance.
  • The FAS will liaise between customers, Sales, Product Management, and other internal teams including Research & Development, Business Development, Bioinformatics, and Technical Support.
  • Networking with customers to provide Voice-of-Customer (VOC) feedback to Product Marketing and Product Management on customer requirements for new applications or products is essential.
  • The FAS will keep informed of competitive market intelligence at industry seminars, trade shows, and conferences and provide reports on trends to Sales and Product Management.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have extensive NGS experience, including associated products and applications such as Illumina Next-Generation Sequencing instrument set-up and execution, DNA and RNA library construction from various sources, and familiarity with whole genome, whole exome, transcriptome, and custom targeted enrichment.
  • Familiarity with probe design pipelines and bioinformatic data analysis and interpretation is required.
  • A BA/BS with 3-5 years of NGS experience, MS with 3+ years of NGS experience, or PhD with 1+ years of NGS experience in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field is necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of the NGS market and vendors is essential.
  • Candidates must demonstrate high attention to detail and self-motivation with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 60% is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Experimental design experience is required, while project management and automation experience is a plus.
