Zirtual / Double is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to maintain and improve existing systems.
The Full Stack Engineer will be responsible for the full lifecycle of development and ongoing maintenance for both internal and client-facing applications.
This role focuses on thoughtful maintenance, steady improvement, and supporting existing systems rather than rapid scaling or constant feature development.
The entire codebase is written in TypeScript, with a backend built using Node, PostgreSQL, Apollo, and Redis.
Web applications are developed with React and Apollo, and a native iOS app is created in Swift, utilizing both UIKit and SwiftUI.
The backend integrates with multiple third-party APIs, including OpenAI, Twilio, Airtable, Google Calendar, Slack, SendGrid, and Intercom.
Requirements:
A degree in computer science, telecommunications, or electrical engineering, or relevant experience is required.
Candidates must have 5 years of programming experience, including 3 years of experience using React, GraphQL, Node, and TypeScript.
A deep understanding of relational databases is necessary.
Familiarity with or eagerness to learn about Apollo, React Hooks, Redis, Chrome Extensions, and various productivity APIs (e.g., Slack, Zapier) is expected.
Candidates should be confident in their skills while recognizing when to leverage third-party solutions.
A self-starter attitude and comfort with ambiguity are essential, along with excitement for ownership opportunities within a small core team.
Initiative in making the team more efficient through tooling and process improvements is important.
Candidates should be open to discarding code as needs change and willing to contribute to unfamiliar parts of the stack for team impact.
Strong communication skills with a diverse team are required.
Authorization to work in the US is necessary.
