  • The Healthcare Auditor Technical Lead will provide expert leadership in audit execution and strategy for the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Medical Disability Examination (MDE) contracts.
  • This role requires a combination of regulatory expertise, collaboration, compliance, and continuous improvement to enhance medical audit practices.
  • Responsibilities include developing project plans, ensuring compliance with quality standards, communicating with stakeholders, participating in quality control, identifying risks, managing project budgets, analyzing outcomes, ensuring regulatory compliance, contributing to strategic planning, identifying process improvements, facilitating team training, and promoting a culture of continuous learning.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have an active Public Trust or the ability to obtain one, requiring U.S. citizenship and a favorable background check.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required, or an additional four years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of twelve years of job-related experience is necessary.
  • Prior experience in healthcare or medical examination projects is essential, focusing on specialized knowledge to support project goals.
  • Understanding of electronic health records (EHR) systems and data management practices is required.
  • Knowledge of government payor practices, guidelines, and procedures, as well as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding, is necessary.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the healthcare sector, particularly medical disability examinations, is required.
  • Candidates must be able to analyze complex healthcare data and project details, identify issues, and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for conveying information to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for managing diverse stakeholder interactions and resolving conflicts are required.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to medical disability examinations, including HIPAA, is necessary.
  • Ability to establish quality control processes to ensure deliverables meet standards is required.
  • Proficiency in project management support, including planning and risk management, is necessary, with familiarity in tools like Microsoft Project and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project demands and manage stress is essential.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with healthcare regulations is required.
  • Preferred certifications include CPC, CIA, CHC, and/or RHIT.
