The Junior AI Engineer will be responsible for designing, tuning, and A/B-testing prompt chains to enhance instruction-following accuracy, session-completion detection, and overall engagement with the Buddy system.
The role involves implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines to support both bots and in-product answers.
The engineer will modularize Buddy prompt chains to ensure that every language pair utilizes a single, well-structured template with language-specific slots, and will add capabilities to compare model performance across different languages.
The position requires prototyping and productionizing a service in Kotlin or Python that recommends the next best learning feature, measuring success through increased feature completions and balanced usage.
The engineer will build an end-to-end prompt-quality harness that includes unit, offline, and in-production metrics, integrating it with the custom model-serving layer.
Daily collaboration with the Head of Content, Director of Product Strategy & Innovation, and Engineering Manager is expected, with a focus on taking ownership of high-leverage deliverables that impact key performance indicators (KPIs).

Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is required.
Familiarity with recommender-systems foundations is a nice-to-have.
Experience with A/B testing at scale is preferred.
Basic knowledge of Python (LLM tooling) and Kotlin fundamentals is beneficial.
Familiarity with ML-ops tooling such as Airflow and Feature Store is a plus.
A basic understanding of statistics and experimentation design is also desirable.
