Canonical is hiring a Junior Cloud Field Engineer to assist global companies in adopting private cloud infrastructure, Linux, and cloud-native operations.
The role involves designing private and public cloud solutions, deploying and testing technologies, and handing over solutions to support teams.
Team members will work with technologies such as Linux Ubuntu, OpenStack, and Kubernetes, and will also develop Kubernetes operators using Python.
The position is home-based, with global travel required up to 25% of the time for events.
Daily responsibilities include working across the Linux stack, delivering open source code, coaching colleagues, and fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
Requirements:
A university degree in Computer Science or related software engineering expertise is required.
Candidates must have sound knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies, including Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure, and Ceph.
Practical knowledge of Linux and networking is essential.
Intermediate to advanced Python programming skills are necessary.
The ideal candidate should be dynamic, eager to engage in new projects, and possess excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
Strong organizational skills and a reliable follow-up on commitments are required.
(Optional) Proficiency in a second language is a plus.
