Remote Lead Backend Engineer - Payments

• Maxana is looking for a Lead Payments Engineer to join their talented team and spearhead the development of cutting-edge payment solutions for a key client.
• In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design, implementation, and optimization of payment systems that are efficient, secure, and scalable.
• You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations while delivering a seamless payment experience.
• Key responsibilities include leading the design and development of robust payment solutions, focusing on scalability, security, and performance utilizing Golang and/or Python.
• You will handle API and payment integrations (such as Spreedly, Stripe, Gravy, etc.).
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and refine payment requirements and specifications is essential.
• You will implement payment gateway integrations and optimize transaction workflows to enhance user experiences.
• Conducting thorough technical reviews and recommending improvements to existing payment systems is part of the role.
• Ensuring compliance with industry standards such as PCI DSS and other regulatory requirements is crucial.
• Staying current with payment industry trends and advancements, and recommending new technologies and practices to enhance existing systems is expected.
• You will establish best practices for payments engineering across the organization and engage in heavy backend work building out the payment platform.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a strong focus on internal payment systems is required.
• Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams is necessary.
• Strong proficiency in Python/Django or Golang is essential.
• Experience with payment gateway integrations (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, Braintree) and payment processing systems is required.
• An in-depth understanding of compliance and security standards (e.g., PCI DSS) is necessary.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues are required.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, are essential.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment is preferred.
