The Data Platform Lead will be responsible for the availability, reliability, recoverability, security, and performance of data platforms.
Responsibilities include architecting, implementing, managing, and optimizing robust data platforms, as well as ensuring cost transparency and forecasting.
The role involves owning and enhancing Data Platform processes and standards, understanding company needs, and executing critical projects on the Data Platform roadmap.
The position requires collaboration with the Data Acquisition team to ensure cohesive architecture for IoT timeseries data.
The role reports directly to the Director of Data Management and Information Security and is part of the Engineering department.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience as a Data Platform Engineer or DBA and 2+ years in a technical leadership role.
Experience managing large scale data platform projects is required.
Proficiency with distributed systems like Spark, Kafka, and data lakes is necessary.
Strong experience with relational databases such as SQL Server or MySQL is essential.
Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure is required.
Candidates should have an understanding of data modeling principles and best practices for data platform availability, recoverability, security, and performance.
Experience implementing cost forecasting and containment processes is necessary.
Candidates must be proficient with SQL and have experience with data platform monitoring and alerting.
Additional experience in the solar industry, Databricks, RDS, IoT timeseries data, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is a plus.
