  • The Data Platform Lead will be responsible for the availability, reliability, recoverability, security, and performance of data platforms.
  • Responsibilities include architecting, implementing, managing, and optimizing robust data platforms, as well as ensuring cost transparency and forecasting.
  • The role involves owning and enhancing Data Platform processes and standards, understanding company needs, and executing critical projects on the Data Platform roadmap.
  • The position requires collaboration with the Data Acquisition team to ensure cohesive architecture for IoT timeseries data.
  • The role reports directly to the Director of Data Management and Information Security and is part of the Engineering department.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 5+ years of experience as a Data Platform Engineer or DBA and 2+ years in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience managing large scale data platform projects is required.
  • Proficiency with distributed systems like Spark, Kafka, and data lakes is necessary.
  • Strong experience with relational databases such as SQL Server or MySQL is essential.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure is required.
  • Candidates should have an understanding of data modeling principles and best practices for data platform availability, recoverability, security, and performance.
  • Experience implementing cost forecasting and containment processes is necessary.
  • Candidates must be proficient with SQL and have experience with data platform monitoring and alerting.
  • Additional experience in the solar industry, Databricks, RDS, IoT timeseries data, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is a plus.
