The Experience Platforms team at SEEK is responsible for guiding the development of experiences, including building and supporting a multi-platform design system and a zero-install code-oriented design environment.
The team designs, develops, and delivers tools and platforms to create consistent user experiences, managing their own roadmap in consultation with the SEEK engineering and design community.
The Lead Engineer position is an entry-level people manager and a senior member of the SEEK Group Engineering teams, providing leadership to three direct reports while driving software delivery within the Design Systems team.
The role focuses on writing clean, scalable, and testable code, ensuring high-quality development practices and standards.
Key accountabilities include guiding engineers in building and maintaining software, troubleshooting support requests, strengthening engineering discipline, and fostering team wellbeing and inclusivity.
Requirements:
Extensive knowledge of React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript is essential.
Experience developing applications in accordance with accessibility guidelines, including familiarity with ARIA guidelines and screen reader technologies, is required.
Understanding of semantic versioning and package publishing practices is necessary.
Demonstrated experience in writing well-tested, readable software using secure coding practices is expected.
The candidate must have the ability to collaborate with various cross-functional senior stakeholders and proactively share knowledge to help team members grow.
Strong communication skills are required to present to and influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
An analytical and problem-solving mindset, along with empathy and high emotional intelligence, is essential.
