Tilt is seeking a Lead Engineer to lead the system redesign of NIRA, their newly acquired credit business in India.
This role is a senior individual contributor position, not focused on people management.
NIRA aims to build a leading financial brand for Middle India, serving a market of 200 million underserved by traditional banks.
The company processes over 15,000 new loan applications daily and is experiencing a growth rate of 12-15% month-over-month.
The Lead Engineer will design, build, and scale production systems that support real-time credit decision engines, loan origination, and management throughout the loan lifecycle.
The role involves building the tech stack for credit and other products using the India Stack.
This is an in-office position based in Bangalore, India, reporting to NIRA’s founders while collaborating with global engineering teams at Tilt.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar quantitative field is required.
Candidates must have 6+ years of industry experience in backend development on large-scale, high-traffic production systems.
Strong hands-on expertise in databases (both open source and managed), APIs, servers, and backend architecture is essential.
Effective communication skills are necessary to discuss technical details and convey impact to an executive audience.
Experience in scaling a product from millions to tens of millions of users in an individual contributor role is preferred.
Familiarity with decision-making and deployment of product iterations based on A/B testing or other decision systems is beneficial.
