As the Lead Frontend Engineer, you will own the architecture, standards, and delivery of all client-facing UIs, driving technical excellence across multiple teams.
This is a fully remote role that involves more than just feature work; you will design and evolve the frontend platform, including component libraries, design systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
You will set best practices for performance, security, and accessibility, and mentor other engineers to adopt these practices.
You will be responsible for designing, building, and evolving the core component library and design system to ensure consistency and speed across product teams.
You will establish and maintain coding standards, linting rules, commit conventions, branch policies, and release checklists.
You will lead code reviews focusing on maintainability, scalability, and best practices, and mentor engineers through various methods such as pairing sessions and regular feedback loops.
You will partner with product managers, UX/UI designers, and backend teams to translate requirements into robust, performant front-end solutions.
You will define key front-end health metrics and implement monitoring and alerting systems, while also driving iterative improvements to the codebase health.
Requirements:
You must have 7+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in a frontend-lead or architect role.
Mastery of React, Next.js, and TypeScript is required, including knowledge of SSR/SSG, dynamic imports, and code-splitting.
A strong grasp of modern styling techniques such as CSS Modules, Tailwind, and Emotion, as well as design-system tooling, is necessary.
You should have a proven track record of defining and enforcing coding standards, linting/prettier rules, component guidelines, and release workflows.
Experience in building or scaling a shared component library or micro-frontend architecture is essential.
Expertise in performance optimization techniques and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.x) is required.
Solid experience with end-to-end testing frameworks like Cypress or Playwright is necessary.
Familiarity with integrating security best practices into the development lifecycle is required.
A strong understanding of CI/CD processes, code review workflows, and quality gates is essential.
You must demonstrate the ability to coach, mentor, and upskill mid- and junior-level engineers.
Excellent communication skills are required to translate complex technical decisions into clear guidance for cross-functional partners.
