Remote Lead Platform Software Engineer

• Midnite is a next-generation betting platform designed for modern fandom, focusing on creating an intuitive and immersive sportsbook and casino experience.
• The company is seeking an experienced Lead Platform Software Engineer to ensure the platform's reliability, speed, and resilience.
• This role involves building the Australian backend team, setting engineering practices and culture, and being a key figure in incident response and system improvements.
• The tech stack includes Python, AWS, Flask, Pytest, Mypy, Docker, PostgreSQL, SQS, S3, and Terraform, with daily deployments.
• Collaboration will primarily be with the local Australian team and existing UK-based Platform and Backend Engineering teams.
• Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software and systems, writing clean and efficient code, participating in code reviews, and staying updated with industry trends.
• The role requires participation in an on-call incident response roster and occasional travel for quarterly team meet-ups in Australian capital cities.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have experience in software engineering, with a strong commitment to maintaining high engineering standards.
• Familiarity with the tech stack (Python, AWS, etc.) is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to design, develop, test, and maintain software and systems is essential.
• Candidates should be able to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Participation in code reviews and ensuring code quality is required.
• Staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies is expected.
• Willingness to participate in daytime on-call and incident response, including some weekend work if necessary.
• Candidates must be able to travel for quarterly team meet-ups in an Australian capital city.
